Community Helpers Kiddy Camp - We Play & Learn at Hospital

Last Friday a group of children from Community Helpers Kiddy camp here in Beijing came on field trip to Oasis International hospital. The children arrived bubbly and full of energy for the day. Let’s check out what the children learned at OASIS international hospital.

The first stop on journey was at the pediatrics clinic. Here the children spent some time in the play room exploring the toys and getting to know the hospital. A pediatric nurse taught the children about the importance of washing hands and showed them the best way to wash.

After this, the children went to the dental clinic, where a dental nurse taught them the importance of oral hygiene. They were also told how to choose the right type of toothbrush and then given a demonstration of the best way to brush teeth as well as how to floss.

The final stop of the day was to visit a nutritionist. Here the children were told the story of a princess who would only eat red food causing her to not feel well, until a doctor told her the importance of variety in diet, helping her to feel better immediately.

The children instantly understood the moral of the story and enjoyed thinking of lots of healthy foods of different colors. Paper and colored pencils were given to the children for them to play with before they left, as well as some other Oasis gifts.

Through Friday’s activities the children not only had great fun, but also could expand medical knowledges, such as, importance of washing hands, brushing teeth, and eating variety of foods.
